In this blog you will find things that inspire me, uplift me, warm my heart, make me cry (in a good way), make me laugh, make me smile, make me happy, and fill me with awe. This may be written posts, beautiful pictures, songs I love, poems, silliness, or whatever the Holy Spirit is calling me to post. I invite you to join me for the ride. Together we can focus on God and good, love and light. |
I am so glad you stopped by. I am Erica Strickland and this is my blog Focus on God + Good.
So much of life these days is centered around negative events happening in the world, Stories of bad things happening hit us from every angle. I felt myself sinking in the mire of it all. But, there are so many wonderful, good, and positive things in this life. For my own sanity, I came to the conclusion that I had to figure out a way to focus on all of these good things, Back towards the end of 2015, I had an epiphany-- I could start a blog. What better way to keep my eyes on all of the good things in life, than to keep them lifted up and focused on the cross? In trying to be the best Christian I can be, I realized that I need to be more like Jesus. I can do that be following His example of being a servant-leader. It is a true joy to be able to help others. One of the best ways I can do this is to share all of the blessings and positive insight that I come across with you. When we focus our energy on all that is good and right, it is easier to handle all the bumps and bruises and ugly along the way. This journey through life is not an easy one, but we can look to God for the answers and we can help each other through it. By working together, we can grow into the happy, contented people that we long to be, and that God wants us to be. |
Good News |
Jesus Christ died for YOUR sins. He died so that you may live. God, because of His love for the world, has made a way for man to be forgiven for their sins (John 3:16). He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take the sins of man on Himself through death on a cross (1 Peter 2:24). In placing our sin on Christ, God ensured that all who will believe in the name of Jesus will be forgiven (Acts 10:43) and live forever in the next life. Rejoice!

I was born and raised in LA, not Los Angeles, but lower Atlanta. :D
So, yes, I am a Georgia peach. My family and I live in Peachtree City. I am blessed and so thankful to be married to my wonderful husband, Paul. We have been married for nine years, but together for seventeen years. We have four fur-babies: Kudzu, or Zu as we call him, is an Amstaff/Shiba Inu/Boxer/German Shepherd mix, Romeo is a tabby cat, Aly is a tabby cat, and Skye Hydro is a Russian Blue mix. I went to undergraduate school at Georgia College in Milledgeville, where I received my B.A. in technical theatre. I went to graduate school at Oklahoma State University, where I received my M.A. in speech. I loved living in Stillwater and will always be a proud Cowboy. Go Pokes! By day, I work as a web and graphic designer for Country Fried Creative, a digital marketing agency. It is a job I truly enjoy, and I am thankful and grateful for being blessed with it. I love my family, friends, music of all kinds, muscle cars, Hello Kitty, animals, anything artsy-craftsy, college and pro sports, and reading anything I can get my hands on. I love the earth and everything on it. I am a tree-hugger who does what I can to be a care-taker of our environment, as God called us to do. I love old movies and think watching Tuner Classic Movies (TCM) is a great way to spend a free evening. I am an ISFJ, Enneagram Type 9 (the peacemaker), and like to help others. I am very organized and get personal satisfaction working on anything creative.
